ABOUT ANN MARIE ROTH
Little did I know back in 1988 when I received my first massage that natural therapeutics would become a cornerstone of my life. Not only have I used natural therapies to regain and sustain my own health, but I now also utilize them to help others heal and thrive. I can’t stress this enough: I only offer those services and therapies that have contributed to my health and well-being. Here’s a bit of information about my formal training:
Licensed Massage Therapist (NM lic #5350) Massage first helped put me back together in the 80’s and has continued to play a fundamental role in my health ever since, so I knew that when I decided to pursue the healing arts professionally, I would begin by studying massage. I chose the
New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics (NMSNT) after extensive research and site visits; its 800+ hour curriculum surpasses state and national standards, and offered me everything I was looking for. Not only did I master anatomy & physiology and swedish massage, as well as a range of other therapeutic modalities (more about that on my Therapeutic Bodywork page), but I also refined my practice priorities while a student at NMSNT.
Reconnective Healing Practitioner® When a friend handed me a copy of
Dr. Eric Pearl’s book, I had no idea that it would have such a profound impact on my life. I found myself saying, “Yes, yes, yes!” as I read his words that resonated with me so deeply. Before I had finished it, I was interacting with these astounding frequencies, received my first healing, and registered for the Level I/II seminar with Dr. Pearl himself. I completed the Level III seminar within a few weeks of the first, and haven’t stopped since. The result? Physical healing and spiritual renewal for me, and relief from chronic pain, mental angst, insomnia, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and so much else for those for whom I have been honored to facilitate healing sessions. I love this work and am grateful to be able to share its life-changing potential with others.
Certified Core Synchronism Practitioner I was first introduced to this form of hand medicine while a student at NMSNT. I knew right away that I would go on to study
Core Synchronism in depth, which I did, and became certified within 3 years. I continue to receive Core treatments on a regular basis and consider them essential for my health and well-being. I also consider myself profoundly fortunate to have studied Core Synchronism exclusively with its founder and developer, Robert Stevens, ND.
Certified Colon Therapist Now, this is really a calling. When I started massage school, I had no intention of studying colon hydrotherapy, let alone using colonics as a healing tool for myself. All of that changed in one 3-hour lecture, in which Robert Stevens, ND, Director of NMSNT, spoke about the relationship between colon health and overall health. As soon as he finished, I found myself heading straight for him to announce that I needed to learn to do this work. I persuaded him to offer a certification workshop within a month (I couldn’t bear to wait any longer than that), and began an initial series of colonics for myself. I had made great strides in the quality of my diet over the past few years, but what I didn’t know was that I needed to “rehab” my colon to help it heal from years of poor food choices and make the most of the vital, health-giving foods I was now enjoying. Life hasn’t been the same since!
Certified Raw Food Nutrition Educator My interest in living and raw foods began well before my interest in colon health, but the two go hand in hand. It started because I love food and I love to cook, so even though conventional wisdom says to start with easy low-tech raw food creations, I jumped right in and bought a dehydrator so I could make some of the fancy stuff. My culinary interest evolved to include nutritional interest as I noticed that my health really did improve from eating more living/raw and less cooked food. Because I want my clients to reap the benefits as well, I decided to study raw food nutrition formally, with
Drs. Rick and Karin Dina at the
Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, CA, a mecca for raw-food lovers the world over. The comprehensive course boosted my knowledge base a thousand-fold at least, which I now share with my clients informally during colonic sessions, and more formally in private and group settings.
Plant-Based Nutrition The more I learn, the more I can offer my clients, so when the opportunity presented itself to study plant-based nutrition with many of the field’s experts, I jumped at the chance. I am currently pursuing a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University. Among my instructors are such well-respected scholars and clinicians as
T. Colin Campbell, PhD, author of
The China Study;
John McDougall, MD;
Doug Lisle, PhD;
Dr. Pam Popper; and
Caldwell Esselstyn, MD; not to mention elite athlete
Brendan Brazier. The link between what we eat and the illnesses we develop is often downplayed, if not outright ignored, in mainstream medicine. Fortunately, these luminaries speak loudly and clearly, and refuse to be silenced; all for our benefit.
